Did you know that our brain and nervous system do not know the difference between our current reality and what we imagine in our heads? The brain does not distinguish images of reality from vividly imagined images that we experience as if they are happening right now (even though they only happened in our imagination). This opens the door to a whole new concept in our lives, and that is VISUALIZATION.
Nikola Tesla, Serbia's greatest inventor of all time, said:
"Before I sketched on paper, the whole idea was worked out mentally. When I get a new idea, I start developing it in my imagination, making improvements, and running the device in my mind. ”
Most successful athletes, singers, actors, businessmen, etc. use visualization as a tool to improve their performances. It has been scientifically proven that if you imagine training in your head, the same muscles will be activated as if you were doing that training in physical reality. They also proved that mental practice gives the same effect as physical work. Although it sounds incredible, it is true. Visualization helps everyone who uses it properly. Visualization has been proven to have a beneficial effect on focus, perception, planning, memory and helps your brain succeed in whatever it desires. You remember how as a child you often dreamed about everything and everything and how it was not difficult for you to imagine that you are a pilot, a scientist, a soldier, a policeman, the best football player, a powerful and rich businessman, and so on. Well, it's time to wake up that child in you again, and start dreaming big dreams again!
USE VISUALIZATION AS A TOOL TO FULFILL YOUR WISHES
If you have decided to try this tool, we will now list, step by step, what you need to do to make the most of the power of visualization.
1. SET YOUR GOALS
To get started with visualization, you need to know exactly what you want to achieve. You have to set a specific goal that will show what you want. We talked about the goals in a previous blog post on how to set them, so I suggest you read it (click here). Some mini guidelines are that the goal must be specific, detailed, achievable. Explain your goal in detail, not in general. State exactly what you want to achieve, down to the smallest detail. Take ten minutes and write down all your goals.
2. DEFINE ACTIVITIES TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL
You need to think carefully about what activities would be necessary to achieve the goal and write them down. For example, if you have a goal to lose ten kilograms, you must set yourself a list of activities that will lead you to that goal, such as exercising in the gym 3 times a week, higher fruit and vegetable intake, eliminating all industrial products, sweets, and juices, etc. Determine the time for which you want to achieve that goal and determine the list of activities that you will perform every day. Self-discipline is key here, and everything depends on it. If you are disciplined and consistent in what you do, success will not bypass you for sure. Once you’ve set your goal, the deadline to accomplish the goal, and once you’ve planned your day step by step, it’s time to visualize.
3. TIME AND PLACE OF VISUALIZATION
Determine the exact time and place where you will do the visualization. The best time is right after waking up, in the evening before going to bed or before some important event. Be disciplined and constant in applying this tool. Be in a quiet place without possible distractions and distractions. If you are "disturbed" by other thoughts or feelings, just let them go and return your attention to your visualization. Don’t try to visualize when you’re people or in a bad mood. Always be calm and relaxed when doing visualization to be maximally focused on what you want to achieve. Now is the time to visualize. Sit or lie down, sit comfortably, take a few deep breaths, close your eyes, relax and start developing images of your goal as already achieved. Ask yourself what would you see if you did that? How would you feel? How would you behave? What would you listen to?
4. START FROM THE END
This part refers to the previous sentence, and that is to imagine your goal as already achieved and fulfilled. You are the main character of that movie in your head. Imagine exactly what you are doing, what you look like, where you are at the moment, who surrounds you, how you feel, etc. Be as detailed as possible. Allow yourself to feel as intense emotions of success and joy as possible during the visualization.
5. VISUALIZE ALL ACTIVITIES
Once you have visualized the achievement of your goal, continue to visualize all the activities you need to do to achieve the goal. Break your main goal into several smaller parts, and visualize each of those parts in your imagination. For example, if your goal is to be a world boxing champion, you will imagine as the ultimate goal how to hold a belt in your hand. And then break that goal down into smaller segments, for example, how you run 10 km without problems, how you do perfect sparring, how you skip a screw without a mistake, how you work great on a boxing bag and focusers, etc.
6. MAKE YOUR VISION BOARD
To improve the visualization effect, create a board with your visions that will constantly remind you of your goals. Put photos of everything you want to achieve on it. Make pictures in Photoshop where you and your achieved goals are. For example, if you are imagining driving a Porsche, find a picture of a car and insert your picture in that picture. Or an even better solution would be to go to a car showroom and take a picture with that model, and maybe even do a test drive to know exactly how it feels when you drive such a car. Invoke that feeling into your visualization when you imagine driving that car.
7. HAVE A CLEAR INTENT
Better than just hoping or dreaming of success is setting and making a clear intention that you will achieve that goal. When you bring a clear intention to do something, everything will turn to you and give you all the necessary steps and guidelines that you need to achieve it. If you say "I hope to lose 10 kilograms", this is not such a strong goal at all, and the brain will not deal with such "lukewarm" goals. If you say to yourself "I have firmly decided / I intend to lose 10 kilograms", this is already a strong and determined wish that must be fulfilled. The power of intention is very great - when you intend something, you usually achieve it. Therefore, set a clear and firm intention, and with determination and unwavering faith, set out to realize that goal.
CRITICAL IS THE ABILITY TO SEE YOURSELF AS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED ALL YOUR GOALS
The inability to visualize is one of the main reasons why people do not achieve their goals. They are not aware of how much power they are neglecting. Apart from not using their imagination, many do not even have the exact clear goals they want to achieve. Such people end up as average and live from today to tomorrow without any higher goals. Remember the following: NOTHING CAN BE ACHIEVED IN THE MATERIAL WORLD UNTIL THEY ARE ACHIEVED FIRST IN OUR MIND, OR OUR IMAGINATION!
Visualization is not a magic formula for success, its purpose is to support you and speed up the process of achieving goals. So set goals, plan the steps to the goal, visualize, take action!
